Welcome to the Massaro Message
The Fight Is On
Welcome to the Massaro Message. I am Paul Massaro. At my day job, I advise politicians on how dictators think and act, and how we can defeat them. In my free time, I take direct action to support the free peoples of the world and oppose the dictators who threaten human dignity. This Substack will be a form of public journal to share with you all my thoughts and concerns as we struggle to create a world where every person enjoys democracy, human rights, and the rule of law.
1. We are at cold war
When the Cold War ended in 1991, the free world reacted with euphoria, believing its job to be done. The belief that democracy would now inevitably sweep over the globe took hold and the decades of diligence that defined our struggle against totalitarianism suddenly vanished. We could relax. We could make some money. The long struggle was over.
Sadly, this is not how the authoritarians of the world saw it. Taking advantage of the prevailing belief in the free world that economic integration would lead to democracy the world over (“Wandel durch Handel” as the Germans say), these new dictatorships were able to create corrupt beachheads in democratic societies. They purchased elites, hollowed out institutions, and started us down the road toward oligarchic globalization.
We now find ourselves at a crossroads. The free world only barely survived the Russian invasion of Ukraine thanks to the valor and patriotism of everyday Ukrainians, who do not take freedom for granted, unlike many in the West. We can now recognize the global struggle, take it seriously, and win, or we can continue to live in a fantasy world that leads only to our untimely demise. The Massaro Message seeks to help us to move forward.
2. Freedom-loving people
I hope to gather here all those freedom-loving people who suspect or already understand that the greatest threat to the peace and security of the world is dictatorship. These arbitrary, corrupt regimes are spoilers to the collective action needed solve the world’s most pressing problems. They cannot be reasoned. They cannot be bargained with. They can only be met with strength.
3. Reflections and Insights
Every newsletter will contain reflections and insights on current events in the global struggle against dictatorship and corruption and what is being done to fight back. They will include detailed analysis and information relevant to all those who care about the fight for freedom.

If we had a working democracy, the People would not have believed the con job that Oswald killed JFK or that he acted alone, and people like Hillary Clinton would not have had to succumb to a political process of deceit to attempt to become elected to the Presidency. We also would not need a Donald Trump to fight back and to then further the con game once in office. The American people aren't able to uphold a democracy. Not yet. Maybe never. You think it is on the rocks? Tell us when was it good? When men like JFK and MLK rose up? Yes. And they were destroyed. When was it working?

It's just a theory in History studies. How many democracies have been high functioning in history? In the past 150 years? I think the American experiment moves in fits and starts toward implementing justice by virtue of its Constitution.
By the way, your article on fear of Russian escalation to nuclear was fantastic - the quote from Lenin was so PERFECT. You obviously have a brilliant mind and should be reaching the halls of power - but they tend to be pawns of various systems - not independent thinkers. I felt sad however thinking, who am I reading this alone in my apartment? The people who work at The Council On Foreign Relations and all the think tanks, here and in the UK and EU, THEY should be reading it.
